Shadow Frau Studio
Artist and overall creative person.
I have a passion for illustration and concept design – I love to create new worlds and all the characters, scenes, fashions it entails. As I developed as an artist my style has taken influence from classical masters to modern innovations and my personal experiences in everyday life, interaction with world cultures and historical events. I prefer to use watercolors, digital painting, drawing and often find myself experimenting with photography. Watercolors with its nature to be fluid can be an unforgiving and unpredictable challenge that I embrace by my process of adding a rich intensity of colors or a minimal amount to the underlying drawing. Digital painting breaks down the barrier of limitations in traditional media, freeing me to explore the subject in a multilayer way. On the other hand, photography helps me capture a moment in time that can be revisited. When I imagine characters, creatures and scenes in my mind the images build up until I have a great urge to document what I see. Once I create what I imagine it becomes a physical extension of my mind. Like Vincent van Gogh said, “I dream my painting and I paint my dream.”
